Locations
Learn how to manage locations as one type of reference data
1.What Are Locations
Locations are reference data used to manage the physical or geographical placement of IT resources in AssetLoom. They help you define where assets, accessories, licenses, components, and consumables are stored, assigned, deployed, or used, such as an office floor, warehouse, server room, storage area, or repair bench.

The Location is located under the Reference Data section in the Personal Settings page. This page displays all locations in the system and serves as the central place for managing them.

2. How To Set Up Locations
Step 1: Navigate To The Locations Screen
Select the Reference Data in the Configure section on the left-hand side menu sidebar.

On the left menu sidebar, you can view the Locations under the Reference Data.

Step 2: Fill In The Location Form
Click the “New Item” button to open the Location Form

Now you can fill in the Location Form. Below are some key fields:

- Name: Enter the name of the location, such as Office Floor 7, Warehouse A, Server Room, or Repair Bench.
- Address: Enter the street address or specific placement of the location, such as building name, floor, room, shelf, or storage area.
- City: Enter the city where the location is based.
- State: Enter the state, province, or region of the location.
- Zip: Enter the postal or ZIP code of the location.
- Country: Enter the country where the location is based.
- Image: Add a visual reference or icon to help users quickly recognize the location.
Step 3: Save The Location
Once all required fields are filled, click the Create button at the bottom of the form to save the location to the system.

Step 4: Review Your Locations
After creating the locations, you will be redirected to the Location List, where you can view and manage all your locations. If any information needs to be updated, simply click on the locations and modify the details as needed.
You can quickly create a new location in the Asset, Accessory, License, Component, and Consumable lists by entering one in the Location column.

When you check out an asset to a location, the asset location will be updated in the Asset Detail Form.

3. Actions With Location List
After creating the locations, you can perform some actions with the list:
- Edit: Update the Location’s details
- Delete: Remove a Location that is no longer needed.
